The end of the semester is upon us. Everyone’s tired, burnt out and ready for break. I know that the seniors are definitely ready, more than the rest. There is no guide on how to survive the end of the semester because most students are already mentally checked out.

My first tip for surviving the rest of the semester is to study and avoid procrastination. Many people tend to study and complete assignments at the last minute. This can result in stress and anxiety. Studying for exams can cut back on that post-exam stress, especially if you feel that you do well on them. Avoiding procrastination can give you a sense of relief.

Don’t study in your room. This doesn’t mean all people, but several people will go to their room and study. They have so much motivation, but once they sit in bed to do their work, they instantly fold and get on their phone. There are many other study places, with the most popular place being the library.

Reward yourself. This can be something small, like when you pass an exam, go get ice cream, or if you complete an assignment, take a break. This is easier said than done. I know I tend to take a break before I do my work.

Hang out with friends. This may seem like odd and strange advice, but taking some time to hang out with friends can help boost your mood and motivate you to work hard.

Plan. Plan what you need to do and when you need to do it. I like to write all of my assignments down and put their due dates next to them. Every time I complete an assignment, I mark it off as complete.

Make big tasks small. Many professors give projects for finals. If you do receive a project, complete it in pieces. I have many projects that are due. For example, I have a portfolio due for one of my classes. For this assignment, I plan to take a day to edit all of my work and another day to print and put all of my assignments together. Doing this makes the assignment easier and less stressful.

Take breaks. I think this is one of the most important things you can do during finals week. With all the stress and anxiety that finals week brings, taking a minute to yourself is very important. Doing this will give you a minute to relax and recharge.

By following all these tips and tricks, it should make the rest of the semester fly by with ease. I understand life is harder at the end of the semester, and even doing some of these things is hard to do, but just keep on moving, and soon the semester will be over.
