Brawling for deals – why you should shop in person

Black Friday is a tradition of shopping that goes back to the 1950s.

The term “Black Friday” originated in Philadelphia, and was used to describe a hoard of shoppers who come to the city the day after Thanksgiving. However, in some companies, Black Friday starts on Thanksgiving night.

Black Friday is a holiday where stores are stuffed to the brim with people pushing and shoving, trying to get to the sale they saw online or on TV.

It can be scary, thrilling and exciting, all at the same time.

Black Friday used to take place on the Friday after Thanksgiving and it used to start later in the day. This way people could spend time with family, sleep in and receive the good deals they needed.

In recent years though, Black Friday has started earlier and earlier on Friday morning, this point has escalated to the “shopping holiday’s” encroachment on Thanksgiving celebrations, due to the fact that now, often, stores are open right after dinner. In recent years, Black Friday has started as early as 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. People have started camping outside of stores in order to get a sale that they could possibly get online.

Of course, Black Friday is also another way for companies to be able to turn more profits, thus the upsurge to make the holiday shopping start earlier. Some companies even do a holiday weekend shopping where Black Friday goes all weekend and may be accompanied by Cyber Monday.

Some people don’t think it’s worth going Black Friday shopping in person, while some people find the entire experience a thrill.

Is Black Friday shopping in person even worth it, when you can get the same products, with the same deals, from the same companies, in the comfort of your pajamas at home, by using online shopping?

It would depend on if you like the feel of being crowded in stores with people pushing each other, shouting and aggressively hiding things.

Personally, I enjoy Black Friday shopping in person. However, I would like to bring it back to the old school ways where it was actually on Friday, during normal store hours. There is less of a crowd and I can still get the good deals I found.

Or you can enjoy a nice warm cup of coffee, with a computer in your lap as you check websites to mark off your list and peacefully checkout without being bothered or having to speak to anyone. Some online retailers will even wrap the gifts for you, it’s a win win.

So, if you enjoy people and want to get out and fight for a good deal, Black Friday shopping is perfect for you!

However, if you enjoy the comfort of your own home and do not necessarily enjoy a store full of people, then online shopping would probably suit you best.
