Update: As of 9:50 a.m. power has been restored on campus.

The University of Tennessee at Martin campus was without power again Monday morning. All campus buildings including residences were without power as of 8:40 a.m., with the Weakley County Municipal Electric System (WCMES) Outage Map showing 2 outages reported – both located on the UTM campus. Standard procedure would typically result in the campus-wide generator kicking on after approximately 10 minutes, which did not immediately occur. Power was restored just before 10 a.m.

According to WCMES, a poll top pin broke on UT Farm Road early Monday morning, causing the outage. WCMES currently has no planned outages.

A statement from the UTM Physical Plant issued around 10:30 a.m. said that Weakley County Electric lost a substation that serves the campus, causing faults in the generator plant. Areas of campus experienced inconsistencies in Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Martin is currently under a heat advisory that is expected to expire late Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The campus and surrounding areas also lost power Sunday night for roughly 2 and 1/2 hours.
