Opinion: Girl Scout cookie season remains iconic

It is officially Girl Scout cookie season!

Girl Scouts start selling a variety of cookies from January to April, and over the years, they have become popular due to them being a seasonal item. You can purchase the cookies online during the off-season, but you won’t be able to find a Girl Scout to purchase them from during that time.

Pim Neill, a six-year-old girl from Pennsylvania, has broken the record for the most cookies sold. She’s sold over 100,000 cookies after her mom posted a video on TikTok to help increase her sales, selling 20,000 in one day. In the city of Pittsburg, where Pim and her family are from, there will now be a Pim Neill day to honor her for her record breaking sales in her first season.

If you have never purchased Girl Scout cookies, I highly recommend you do. There are many tasty ones, but there are also some bad ones. Here’s a list of the best to worst cookies.

  1. Samoas

I could be biased since I have grown up loving samosas, but after tasting the rest of the cookies and keeping an open mind, samosas have still come out on top. Many people do not like samosas due to the coconut, but I absolutely love it!

  1. Tagalongs

Another great cookie is tagalongs. This soft, but crispy, peanut butter filled cookie will have you wanting more. It has also been one of my life long favorites.

  1. Adventurefuls

Adventurefuls are amazing. They remind me of the fudge stripe cookies you can buy at the grocery store, but they’re better. Adventurefuls came out during the 2021-2022 Girl Scout cookie season, and I do have to say I am sad that I am late to trying them because I love them!

  1. Do-si-dos

I did not think I would like do-si-dos so much, but I do. I am not a big fan of oatmeal cookies, but the peanut butter overpowers the oatmeal. However, I do think these would be better if they were soft.

  1. Thin Mints

I have never been a fan of thin mints. It doesn’t taste bad, but I do not like minty desserts. Thin mints do taste like Andes mints, which taste great frozen.

  1. Lemon-ups

Lemon-ups are not bad at. They’re cute and they taste good. However, I do wish these were soft and not hard. Maybe it’s because I prefer my cookies soft, but I do think these would be so much better soft.

  1. Trefoils

I don’t hate this cookie whatsoever. It taste fine, but kinda bland. I don’t think I would buy this cookie again, but I do understand why people would.

  1. Exploremores

I was so excited to try this cookie, only to hate it. The taste is strong, but I can’t quite tell what I’m tasting. I taste the rocky road, but I also taste the Cookie Crisp cereal. Maybe if this cookie had some milk it would taste better.

  1. Toffee-tastic

There’s a reason this cookie came in last. Unfortunately, there’s nothing for me to compare it to. I believe in second chances, but not for this cookie.

If you decide to get some Girl Scout cookies I would highly recommend Samoas, Tagalongs or Adventurefuls, but I would also recommend to not attempt toffee-tastic.
