Martin still needs new restaurants

Martin’s lack of good restaurant choices is still a standing problem, and I am here with even more possible solutions.

I have previously given my argument that Martin, a small college town, should be providing its residents with better choices for dining. I had too much to say the first time around, so I am here with part two of restaurants that could liven up the current food scene.

The first option is a chicken-focused eatery, which is a change from the McDonald’s and the Burger King that we have grown familiar to. Zaxby’s is a good place to eat, but what if you want something a little bit more soulful and spicy? You need to go to a Popeye’s.

Popeye’s is famously known for their menu inspired by Louisiana cuisine. They have a near perfect chicken recipe, as well as several selections of seafood and sandwiches. Recently, they have been thrust into the media spotlight for their chicken sandwich that everybody has been raving about.

Popeye’s is a veritable utopia for a fried chicken enthusiast. They have Louisiana tenders, chicken legs, naked tenders, regular tenders, spicy tenders and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Their sandwich choices consist of po’boys full of chicken or shrimp or you can choose a delicious wrap for a less messy handheld meal.

It is also important to notice their unique selection of sides. What may seem like an afterthought of most fast food restaurants, Popeye’s puts time and hard work into their side dishes. Their meals come with your choice of coleslaw, mashed potatoes, red beans and rice, cajun fries or possibly their most famous side, their crispy, flaky biscuits.

There is so much flavor to be found in Popeye’s, and their dedication to crafting the perfect Louisiana menu shows through the food they serve.

My additional idea is one that, while expensive, is worth every cent you pay. The second, and final, addition that Martin would benefit from is a Longhorn.

Longhorn is a steakhouse with a mouthwatering selection of steaks to choose from. They have everything a meat-lover could ask for. Their menu consists of sirloin, ribeye, New York strip, filet, t-bone, prime rib and the large, juicy porterhouse.

If steak is not your choice of food, that is no issue for Longhorn’s kitchen. They also make fantastic burgers, pork chops, baby back ribs and parmesan crusted chicken.

Speaking of parmesan crust, the customization options provided for your steak are jaw dropping. You can add a parmesan crust to your steak, or even top it off with sauteed mushrooms or onions. If you are looking for some seafood for supper, add a lobster tail or an order of grilled shrimp to your steak.

All these endless, flavorful combos are washed down with a cold glass of sweet tea. The food, coupled with the friendly, southern atmosphere Longhorn emits, guarantees that any first-time visitor will become a repeat offender.

These are two more proposals for new restaurants Martin could implement to improve the current lack of new and interesting eating choices. As I pointed out in the first article, there are problems that a new restaurant would face, such as where to build these new restaurants.

In the grand scheme of things, it may be worth the construction and the waiting if it means we can earn one of these delicious dining rooms in our town.
