The 2026 Grammy Awards saw multiple artists take home multiple wins; including Kehlani (2), Lady Gaga (2), Bad Bunny (3), and Kendrick Lamar with five.

For the past 15 years, Lamar has been steadily climbing the ranks of superstardom in the world of hip-hop. From making soundtracks for Marvel movies to hosting last year’s Superbowl, Lamar’s career contains many accolades. The biggest of these accolades occurred at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 1, 2026, when he won Best Rap Album, Record of the Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. By adding these five wins to his other 22, Lamar has become the most awarded rapper in Grammy history.

Most of Lamar’s wins from this year’s Grammys came from his sixth studio album, GNX; released on Nov. 22, 2024, which is past the deadline for Grammy submissions. Due to this, Lamar’s album only became eligible for nominations for the following year’s Grammy’s instead. The songs from GNX that won awards were “Luther” and “TV Off”. The album itself won the award for Best Rap Album. “Luther” won Record of the Year and Best Melodic Performance of the Year. “TV Off” won Best Rap Song.

“Every time I tell you this,” Lamar said. “Hip hop is always gonna be right here. We gonna be in these suits, we gonna be looking good, we gonna be having our folks with us, we gonna be having our culture with us.”

Kendrick’s humble response is a staple of his public image by now and his acceptance speech for GNX winning rap album of the year is no exception.

This was not Kendrick’s first time getting such a large amount of wins at the Grammys. Just last year, he won five awards for just one song. “Not Like Us”, Kendrick’s penultimate diss track in his rap beef against fellow rapper Drake, won Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song and Best Music Video. “Not Like Us” was undoubtedly the biggest song to come out of 2024 and very clearly earned its clean sweep. Other songs that Lamar has won multiple Grammys for include: “Alright”, “Humble”, and “i”.

With this achievement under his belt, Lamar has become undeniable as one of the greatest rap artists of all time. Moving forward, he looks to create his first feature film alongside ‘South Park’ creators Matt Stone. The film is still in production, but the current title is ‘Whitney Springs’. Kendrick Lamar’s discography will continue to grow for the foreseeable future, bringing many more accolades along with it.
