How to create a meaningful gift for the holidays

With the gift-giving season right around the corner, it’s important to be aware of a few things when buying a gift: price, time and, of course, the likeability factor. Although there are thousands of gifts available, both online and in stores, it is necessary to find a gift that speaks from the heart.

One option that is very popular these days is giving a bottle full of pieces of colorful paper with happy memories or qualities you love about that person written on them. These bottles can be purchased at Wal-Mart, JW’s Market and even inside the Starbucks on campus.

That’s right, it’s those charming glass bottles that carry delicious Starbucks Frappuccino beverages that you can use to fill with memories about the gift recipient. After purchasing a couple of these containers, all you have to do is drink the delicious Frappuccino, rinse out the glass bottle and cut up a few pieces of colorful paper. Since it’s the holidays, red and green would be a good choice. With these pieces of paper you can be silly or sweet, writing quotes, verses or just little inside jokes you’ve acquired throughout the semester.

The key is to be creative with it. Decorate the bottles with ribbons or even glue on a picture of you and your friend together.

If you’re looking for something a little more romantic for your significant other, you can always write down memories from your first few weeks dating or include little tokens from the early days like movie tickets, silly doodles, candid snapshots, etc. Write down little things you love about the other person. It may seem like it’s not enough, but everyone loves to hear these things so incorporating them into your Christmas gift will only help.

This gift idea is perfect for suitemates, significant others, best friends and teammates. It’s creative, only costs the price of a few Frappuccino bottles, takes very little time to create and it definitely speaks from the heart.
