UTM Soccer loses in a heartbreaker against SIUE

The UT Martin Skyhawks do not advance in the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Championship after a heartbreaking loss to the SIUE Cougars in St. Charles, Mo.

After a full-time 0-0 tie, UT Martin and SIUE played two 10-minute overtime periods, which eventually sent the match to penalty kicks. SIUE had UT Martin’s number and won 5-4. In the first half, SIUE put up four shots on goal and only two in the second half. UT Martin had one shot on goal in the first half and seven in the second. In penalty kicks, both teams made four and missed one, which led to sudden death, where UT Martin missed and SIUE capitalized.

Freshman forward Alexandra Weihs led UT Martin in shots with three, all on goal. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Mac Titus also had a great game with seven saves.

Freshman midfielder Ava Huntrods was named OVC Freshman of the Year on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025. Huntrods was also named to the All-Newcomer team. Weihs was also named to the All-Newcomer team.

UT Martin finished the season with a record of 3-7-9.
