UT Martin Soccer search for first victory is over after 4-2 win against Lindenwood

The Skyhawks won their first game of the season, 4-2,  in comeback fashion against the Lindenwood Lions in their second conference match of the season.

Just before half, the Lions were awarded a penalty kick on which junior defender Allison Schrumpf scored taking a 2-1 lead. In the second half the Lions were shutout by the Skyhawks defense.

Despite giving up two goals in the first half, red shirt senior goalkeeper Mac Titus shut down in the second half collecting four saves on the night. Other key players alongside Titus were junior forward Peyton Cook with two goals in the second half, sophomore Defender Anna Østergaard Ibsen with one second half goal and redshirt freshman midfielder Ava Huntrods scoring the one first half goal.

Following their win, the Skyhawks hosted the OVC leading, Eastern Illinois Panthers, who are 6-4-2 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.  The Panthers took an early lead with a fourth-minute goal by junior forward Alex Tetteh which stood to be the only offense the panthers needed to grab this win. The Panthers defeated the Skyhawks 1-0.

After Eastern Illinois’ goal, goalkeeper Mac Titus totaled 5 saves. Titus’s effort went unrewarded as the Skyhawks scoring troubles continued. Avoiding shutouts is crucial to turning the season around as they continue the stretch of conference play.

The Skyhawks hold a record of 1-5-6 and a conference record of 1-1-1. The Skyhawks face the 0-11-1 Southeast Missouri State Redhawks on Sunday Oct. 5, 2025 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at Houck Field. This is a opportunity for the Skyhawks to get a win over a winless team at the bottom of the OVC.

This will be the Skyhawks fourth conference game in which they currently rank sixth in the OVC. The Remaining games for the Skyhawks following SEMO are:
