TWRA to restock rainbow trout Wednesday

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) will be restocking rainbow trout into the Martin City Pond on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021.

The TWRA stocks the Martin City Pond, twice a year as part of their Winter Trout Stocking Program, in December and January. Many other small towns in West Tennessee such as Paris and McKenzie benefit from winter trout stocking as well. Trout are a cold water fish which provides sportsmen and women throughout the region an opportunity for excellent fishing in the cold, dog days of winter.

A Type 022 (Annual Trout) or 004 (Sportsman) license is required to fish for trout in Tennessee. To purchase or renew your fishing license visit www.GoOutdoorsTN.com

Popular artificial baits used by local anglers include PowerBait and small inline spinners, such as the Mepp’s Agalia or Worden’s Rooster Tail. Canned corn and worms fished on a bobber rig are also used frequently. Berkley’s Powerbait is another popular bait amongst anglers fishing for stocked trout.
