Now in week six, the UT Martin Skyhawks will face off against another OVC-Big South opponent for the second time this season–this time on the road. The Skyhawks are coming off their first win of the season in blowout fashion, 34-10 over the SEMO Redhawks.

The Lindenwood Lions currently sit at 2-3 on the season but are coming off a blowout loss to the Miami of Ohio Redhawks. The Lions failed in all aspects of the game, failing to score a single point in the 38-0 blowout.
Lions senior quarterback Nate Glantz is coming off his worst game of the season. In that game, Glantz failed to hit the 100 total-yard marker for the game at 87 passing and negative-three rushing. Glantz also doubled his interception total on the season from two to four.
The Skyhawks’ secondary could be looking at a career game. After allowing 287 passing yards and three passing touchdowns to the Missouri State Bears in week four, the team bounced back by only allowing 209 passing yards and hauling in two interceptions from SEMO in week five, from three different quarterbacks. Skyhawks junior cornerback LaMarion Pierce and senior safety Jacob Stevenson both picked off their first interceptions of the season in the team’s win.

After struggling on the ground versus Miami of Ohio at a low yardage of 59 yards on 28 carries–2.1 yards per carry–the Lions face yet another tough challenge in the run game. The Skyhawks’ front seven are a part of that challenge. In their game against SEMO, the Skyhawks allowed only 30 rushing yards on 23 carries– 1.3 yards per carry.
Off-ball linebackers senior Shamari Weir and junior Keyshawn Johnson consistently find themselves in the opponents’ backfields, each with four sacks. Senior defensive lineman Jabaree Dawkins is a hard rock to move, as he currently sits third on the team in tackles with 24. Senior off-ball linebacker Tah Mac Bright Banda comes in as a hybrid between the run and pass defense with half a sack, an interception and two passes defended on the season.
Offensively, the Skyhawks could not have been much better against SEMO. As mentioned in week five’s preview, Jase Bauer could have been in for a career game, and he did just that. Putting the offense on his back, Bauer rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns while adding 225 yards and two touchdowns through the air.
A quick moment to praise sophomore running back Thomas Ansley filling in the role of the injured senior John Gentry. Gentry missed week five versus SEMO due to a concussion he suffered in week four. Ansley rushed for an effective 6.2 yards per carry on 16 carries–99 rushing yards total. Ansley and Bauer could be in for a rushing feast against the Lions, who allowed a total of 264 rushing yards versus Miami of Ohio.
After coming off a massive conference win, the Skyhawks are back on the road this time against the Lions at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium on Oct. 4, 2025, at 1 p.m.
