From ‘Project Hail Mary’ to ‘28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,’ the beginning of this year saw the release of a handful of really memorable movies. However, for those invested in cinema, this was no surprise.

Thankfully, the party isn’t over when it comes time for summer. No, for casuals and movie lovers alike, the summer looks as if it will be blockbuster season.

Disclosure Day

One of the earliest  films in the promising lineup is Steven Spielberg’s next big project, ‘Disclosure Day.’ From the looks of the trailer, ‘Disclosure Day’ seems to be about an alien invasion. The excitement behind this film is slightly confusing because there’s little to no information about it.

Fortunately, this is the main attraction for it. Some fans are already invested in the movie because of all of the mystery behind it. There are some theories about it, but nothing has been confirmed yet. It stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Conner, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth and Wyatt Russell, just to name a few, making it a star-studded cast. Fans and critics are awaiting Spielberg’s next masterpiece with bated breath. The film releases on June 12, 2026.

The Odyssey

What may be the most anticipated movie of the summer, and possibly even the year, is Christopher Nolan’s take on the classic epic poem by Homer, ‘The Odyssey.” Nolan has made some of the most artistic films to ever grace the silver screen, and now he’s taking a shot at one of the most iconic stories ever made. The anticipation for ‘The Odyssey” is palpable, as many fans have already begun deliberating over it.

The film will incorporate the entire poem into, at the very least, a three-hour experience for audiences worldwide. It will star some of the most well-known names in modern day Hollywood. Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Zendaya and Charlize Theron are just a few of the many iconic names attached to this film. Also, at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025, IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond announced that the entire film will be shot on IMAX cameras. It is the first film to do so, marking a very large moment in cinematic history. With the release date slated for Jul. 17, 2026, the hype train has long left the station.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

To mark the end of July, Marvel Studios will be releasing the long anticipated fourth film in their ‘Spider-Man’ franchise, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day.’ After being forgotten by everyone in the world, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) has fully devoted himself to protecting New York City as the one and only Spider-Man. However, due to the stress, his body undergoes a transformation that will alter him forever.

With this film, Tom Holland is the only actor to play a version of Spider-Man that has received more than three movies. The film is also set to see Spider-Man finally cross paths with some fan favorite characters like Jon Bernthal’s version of the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s version of the Hulk. This time around, Spider-Man is being taken out of the frying pan and promptly being thrown straight into the fire. With the film releasing on July 31, 2026, time will only tell if he can live up to his name or die trying.
