The Skyhawks struggles show no sign of letting up after 1-2 loss against the now 1-11-1 South East Missouri (SEMO) Redhawks.

Junior forward Peyton Cook set the tone early scoring for the Skyhawks in the second minute of the match after an assist by Sophomore midfielder Unni Wolf, her first of the season. Redshirt Senior goalkeeper Mac Titus shut out SEMO through the first half, although eventually the Redhawks would score late in the game during the 79 minute from Junior forward Emily Baker. During the 89 minute Baker struck again with a penalty kick which won the Redhawks the match. The loss now places the Skyhawks sixth in the OVC rankings.

The Skyhawks will be returning home for their next matchup against the Little Rock Trojans, who they have not beaten since 2022 and are currently ranked fourth in the conference. The Skyhawks have struggled at home this season totaling a 0-3-5 record. However, the Trojans have struggled on the road totaling a 1-3-2 away record, presenting an opportunity for the Skyhawks to turn things around before traveling to the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, who currently sit third in the OVC standings, on Oct. 12, 2025.

Following the matchup on the road against Tennessee Tech, the Skyhawks go on the road to Morehead State on Oct. 16 before returning home for games against Western Illinois on Oct. 19, and SIUE on Oct. 26.

With just five matches remaining before the postseason, every match will be crucial for the Skyhawks. They must capitalize on these upcoming games to hold their standing and secure a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament. The OVC standings currently stand:
