Seventh annual I Heart UTM Week looks to celebrate the Skyhawk community

UTM will host its seventh annual ‘I Heart UTM’ week April 5-11 to celebrate Skyhawk community support.

In previous years, the Student Government Association and the Alumni Center arrange events throughout the week that feature prizes, free food and materialistic items to show off UTM pride. Events will include faculty, staff and community members as well as students.

SGA is providing a fun way to celebrate being part of the UTM community and starting a new tradition this year by hosting an election for Mr. and Miss UTM. Potential candidates must be a full-time student at the university, have a GPA of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 scale and be sponsored by one organization. Organizations can only sponsor one candidate. Nomination forms were due Friday, March 19, 2021. The election will be held online on Thursday, April 8th, from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at www.utm.edu/elections. The top three vote recipients in each category will make up the court. The court will be recognized, and Mr. & Miss UTM will be crowned at the UTM Football game on Sunday, April 11.

The Alumni Center has also created a couple shirt designs for all ages, even the little Skyhawks! Visit UTM Alumni to order yours and gear up and show your Skyhawk pride!

The events for I Heart UTM week are as follows:

Monday, April 5 is Philanthropy Day, which includes an SAC Canned Goods Drive, Thank-a-Hawk and Fight Crew Pop-Up.

Tuesday, April 6 is Thankful Tuesday, which includes Donuts for Donors, Props for Profs and Movie Night at the Cine.

Friday, April 9 is Community Day, which includes a Skyhawk Creed Celebration and a virtual talent show at 7 p.m.

Sunday, April 11 is the I Heart UTM Finale and UT Martin will host Tennessee Tech for the last game of this year’s football season with kickoff beginning at 3 p.m. SAC will be tailgating from 1:30 p.m. to kickoff. Mr. and Miss UTM will also be crowned at half-time.
