A collision between a pedestrian and a scooter rider occurred Monday morning, Sept. 21.

According to a Facebook post by the UT Martin Office of Public Safety, the collision occurred between Clement Hall and the Boling University Center. The pedestrian was checked by EMS and was taken to the emergency room.

Public Safety encourages people to use extreme caution when operating scooters and reminds people that pedestrians have the right-of-way on all walkways. Scooter riders that cause an accident could be civilly or criminally liable.
