Lego Ideas recently released their brand new “Love Birds” set. Released on Jan. 1, 2026, the set featured two lovebirds on a blossoming tree. The birds are able to be repositioned to form a heart while they are perched together. The set is comprised of 750 pieces with a price tag of $49.99, bringing the price per piece to about seven cents per piece. This puts the set on the cheaper side of the average ten cents per piece of their other sets.
The centerpiece of this set is, of course, the two birds with movable positions. They sit upon a tree with many blossoming flowers. The set would be ideal for the nature lover, or a couple, to complete together. The set is 12 inches wide and about nine inches tall, making it a great decoration for a desk.
Most of the build is the tree. Lego uses a variety of browns and twisting pieces to give the tree an organic look. Building the actual tree is enjoyable, as Lego utilizes many of their snot pieces, or the pieces that let you build sideways, to allow the builder to use the trunk as a base and build out from there. The blossoms are a repetitive build but rewarding in their beauty. Fans of the Botanicals series of Lego will definitely appreciate the tree and flowers.
The birds themselves are very nicely put together as well. They have a nice, vibrant color to them, and look great positioned as a pair. Upon close inspection, the builder will notice that the birds’ wings actually have little one-by-one heart pieces on them, adding to the theme of love that is abundantly inherent in this set.
The “Love Birds” set is a part of the Lego Ideas catalogue, meaning that it was a fan made creation before it got turned into an official set. The person who originally made the set, a fan named Micah that goes by ModularManiac, made a tree that was originally a little more pink and birds without colorful beaks. For the most part, Lego improved upon the original set. In changing the leaves to white and green, the set has a wider variety of color and some more pop.
Overall, the “Love Birds” set from Lego Ideas is a pretty solid set. It’s not too expensive, and it doesn’t have too many pieces where it can be built with someone else for a fun date. The beauty of the birds, the tree and flowers are enough to keep fans of the Lego botanicals entertained or maybe make some new fans. Either way, there is something for everyone to enjoy with the new “Love Birds” set.
