The Front Street Festival is back in Greenfield, TN, for the second year in a row.
The Front Street Festival starts on Oct. 20 and will run through Oct. 25, 2025. The first Front Street Festival was held last year, taking the place of the Fire Prevention Festival. The Fire Prevention Festival took place for 35 years and was coordinated by Fire Chief Bob Dudley, who decided to step down from coordinating in 2024.
Due to Dudley stepping down from coordinating the Fire Prevention Festival, the city decided to do something different. The city of Greenfield wanted to keep the tradition alive, but they wanted to make changes to the festival as well. Previously, the Fire Prevention Festival focused solely on fire safety. Now, the Front Street Festival lasts a week long and has several activities for people of all ages. This year, the festival has grown with an increase in both the number of activities and vendors.
The festival is slated to include several new things this year. There will be an opening night celebration with a bluegrass band, dog show, food trucks and a Jeep show towards the end of the festival. Many things are changing this year compared to last year’s festival, with one of the key differences being that this year’s festival is shorter.
“The main is just changing the time, but I have noticed that the vendors, people that want to come and set up and sell things, and that has grown.” said Jerica Spikes, the city recorder for Greenfield.
Overall, the city had a really good turnout last year.
“We had quite a bit of people from all over…way more than we expected, especially for our first year,” said city clerk Sarah Shucks.
Greenfield will also host a trunk-or-treat six days after the festival ends. Last year’s trunk-or-treat was a huge success with about 900 people in attendance.
Greenfield has worked hard on these events, and they have been a huge success. For a small town, the events do bring in a lot of people, including students and residents from Martin, Union City, Sharon and more. The high attendance speaks volumes about how well put together the events are. It also shows what can happen when businesses and people get together to accomplish great things.
