The 2025 college football season has been as unpredictable as it possibly can be for the quarterback position.
Penn State Nittany Lions senior Drew Allar has fallen out of day one selection after poor play and a significant injury ended his final college season; Oregon Duck sophomore Dante Moore and Alabama Crimson Tide junior Ty Simpson have surprised the entire football landscape with incredible performances and senior Garrett Nussmeier and the LSU Tigers offense have struggled all season long.

5) LaNorris Sellers, Sophomore, South Carolina Gamecocks

Sellers’ freak athleticism is expected to be a controversial topic come the combine in Indianapolis. While he is not the most polished passer, his ability to extend plays and create with his legs at 6 foot 3 inches, 240 pounds is a sight to see.
Sellers has thrown for 1,134 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions on 64.7% completion. In addition, Sellers has rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown.

4) Garrett Nussmeier, Senior, LSU Tigers

Nussmeier held the number No.1 spot in the previous rankings. The LSU QB has struggled to find momentum throughout his senior campaign, however his talent is still undeniable. Nussmeier may no longer be the Heisman Trophy favorite, but he is still projected to go in round one of April’s NFL draft.
Nussmeier has thrown for 1,638 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions on 63.5% completion.

3) Ty Simpson, Junior, Alabama Crimson Tide

Simpson is the prototypical QB. He is 6 foot 2 inches tall, 208 pounds with picture-perfect mechanics inside the pocket. The question now being, can he put it all together? Simpson has done that and then some. He has shown the ability to pass with anticipation and throw his receivers open.
Simpson has thrown for 1,931 yards, 18 touchdowns and one interception on 70.2% completion. Simpson has also shown the ability to use his legs when needed with 66 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

2) Dante Moore, Sophomore, Oregon Ducks

Moore’s talent is undeniable. The Oregon QB has been the best passer from the pocket thus far. Moore is projected to be a top pick in the draft and has earned it with his high quality pocket presence.
Moore has thrown for 1,686 yards, 19 touchdowns and four interceptions on 72.3% completion.

1) Fernando Mendoza, Junior, Indiana Hoosiers

Mendoza, who previously ranked four in the first set of rankings, jumps to first after big wins over the Illinois Fighting Illini and Oregon Ducks. Mendoza has been electric all season long, solidifying himself as a top selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Mendoza has thrown for 1,755 yards, 21 touchdowns and two interceptions on 73.5% completion.
