Meet Arturo Lopez, a Health and Human Performance graduate from Spring 2021.

Lopez is no stranger to the UT Martin campus, being a smiling familiar face to many current and future students. During his time at UT Martin, he was extremely involved with student life. He was a brother of Sigma Chi Fraternity, a SOAR Staff Orientation Leader, a Student Ambassador, and a PEP Leader. He was also involved in the S.H.A.P.E. Club, Mu Epsilon Delta, and worked in the Office of Student Life.

Lopez has continued his life at UT Martin after graduation, now working as an Admissions Counselor. When he isn’t on campus giving potential students tours, he is traveling all around the state to recruit more Skyhawks. Lopez is often seen around campus with a large smile, ready to make people’s day.

Lopez feels that UT Martin played a huge role in his preparation for the real world. He was able to gain hands-on experience while a student in the Health and Human Performance department, but he was also able to experience college extracurriculars. He was a known leader in every organization that he was a part of.

His biggest advice for current college students: “Don’t be afraid to take a chance! Trust your gut and embrace the unknown!”

Lopez has always been known for being everyone’s biggest fan, never afraid to hype up a friend or a stranger.

As he reminisces on his years as a student at UT Martin, one of his fondest memories is cheering on the freshmen Skyhawks during their convocation ceremony. Although this tradition has since been discontinued, this ceremony used to take place every year during welcome weekend. The students would enter the Elam Center and participate in a ceremony that looks almost identical to the graduation ceremony they would experience to finish off their time at UT Martin.

Lopez has always been dedicated to UT Martin, and it looks like his dedication will continue for years to come.
