Skyhawks set to play Notre Dame

After earning their way into the NCAA Tournament the Skyhawks will travel to Iowa City, Iowa, to take on the no. 1 seed Notre Dame.

Like all the other schools in the country UTM waited anxiously on Monday afternoon to find out where they would be playing. After clinching their third-straight birth into the tournament there was little debate on whether or not the team would have to travel somewhere new.

Many of the ESPN Bracketologist had the Skyhawks traveling to Columbus, Ohio, to take on the Fighting Irish so it wasn’t a surprise when the two teams appeared in the bracket together, but nobody was predicting the matchup to be in in Iowa.

The Skyhawks will go into the tournament on an eight-game winning streak dating back to mid-February. Notre Dame comes in with a 26-game streak with their only loss this season being against the Baylor Bears, a team that only beat the Skyhawks 82-67 back in November.

Tipoff is set for Sunday, March 24, at 4:05 p.m. at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The game can be seen live on ESPN2.
