Sigma Alpha Epsilon Hosts Paddy Murphy Philanthropy Week

The brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon are hosting their Paddy Murphy Philanthropy Week this week, March 16-20.

Every year, SAE hosts a week that aims to raise money, awareness, and support for local or national philanthropies.

This year, all of the week’s proceeds will benefit the UT Martin Reading Clinic and We Care Ministries, both local organizations.

The brothers of SAE will be in Boling University Center, where they are handing out free vouchers for Little Caesar’s Pizza. Students who purchase select items from Little Caesar’s are encouraged to turn in their voucher. For every voucher redeemed, Little Caesar’s will donate $1 toward SAE’s philanthropies.

There will also be a canned food drive. All Greek sororities will have a corresponding box. The sorority who donates the most cans by the end of the week will receive a trophy. Greek fraternities are encouraged to support their favorite sororities by donating to their respective boxes. A representative of SAE will be in the University Center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. every day.

All monetary proceeds will go to the UT Martin Reading Clinic. According to their page on the UTM website, The UT Martin Reading Clinic is a sequential and intensive course for reading improvement, taught by experienced reading professionals from the UT Martin Reading Center. The clinic is for students in grades 2-12 who need extra support and practice in reading. Students are tested on their individual abilities and placed into a course of study designed to build skills and to fill any gaps that may exist in their reading skills and strategies.

All canned food donations will go to We Care Ministries, a local religious organization that works to collect nonperishable food items for those in need.

“We are super excited to get involved with the community and help some fantastic local organizations,” said Johnny Wilson, local SAE vice president. “There is no better feeling than knowing your love and support will have a real, positive impact in the life of others. We encourage everyone to share this week with us.”

For more information on SAE’s philanthropy week please ask any brother or contact local SAE philanthropy chair Jon Riley at (731) 819-2763.
