Editorial: All encouraged to have fun, but be safe, on Halloween

Halloween is rapidly approaching, and all of you boo-ys and ghouls are most likely wondering what there will be to do in the surrounding area to get in the festive, fall holiday spirit.

While it is probably pretty tempting to sit on the couch and have a scary movie marathon while sipping a pumpkin spice latte, we at The Pacer encourage everyone to get out and enjoy all of the spooky celebrations. There are a wide variety of haunted houses and mazes. There are also plenty of not-so-scary things for those of you who are easily spooked.

Let’s start right here on our campus. There’s the infamous Clement Hall Ghost Tour. This year, the tour will take place from 7 p.m. until midnight Wednesday, Oct. 29.

The big campus event this year is the humans vs. zombies campus wide game of tag. The big game will take place Oct. 26-Oct. 30. The informational meetings will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 26-27 in Watkins Auditorium.

There is also the Fear Factory located at First and Main streets in downtown Union City. Fear Factory is open this coming weekend and the last two days of October.

For the truly adventurous, there is the Talon Falls Screampark, which consists of four attractions in one location. The Screampark is located in Hickory, Kentucky. Their information can be found on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/talonfalls.

For those looking for something a bit more laid back, Holt Farms in Dresden offers a pumpkin patch complete with a corn maze and a hayride. All details including dates and pricing can be found on their website at www.holtfamilyfarms.com.

So no matter what you decide to do, get out and enjoy Halloween 2014. Even if you don’t choose one of our suggestions, find something enjoyable and festive to do. Whatever you decide to do, as always, be safe and have fun!
